Propcom+ Convenes Agribusinesses, Investors and Financial Institutions Together at ASA 2026 Deal Room

Abuja, Nigeria | 16 September 2026

More than 40 Agribusinesses, alongside several investors, fund managers and financial institutions came together in Abuja for the Agriculture Summit Africa (ASA) 2026 Deal Room supported by Propcom+, to explore financing and commercial opportunities across Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

The deal room brought together businesses secure capital with potential financiers and commercial partners, with particular attention to women led enterprises, first time borrowers and businesses operate across priority agricultural value chain.

For many agricultural businesses, accessing finance remains a challenge – not only because of the availability of capital, but also because businesses and financiers do not always have the information, preparation or connections needed to find the right fit. This is one of the gaps Propcom+ is seeking to address through its involvement in the Deal Room.

According to Dr Adiya Ode, Country Director, Propcom+ “We see the Deal Room as an opportunity to test and strengthen a more structured market mechanism, one that goes beyond introductions at an event to support businesses before, during and after the Summit. For Propcom+, the expected outcome is not simply the number of businesses that participate, but stronger linkages between agribusinesses and financial or commercial partners, greater investment readiness, and ultimately more transactions and private-sector investment in the agricultural market system.”

Rather than limiting the engagement to meetings held during the Summit, the Deal Room follows a three-stage process. Before the event, participating businesses were identified, profiled and prepared for engagement. Their financing and commercial needs were considered alongside the interests of potential investors and financial institutions.

At the Deal Room, businesses had the opportunity to present their propositions, discuss financing requirements and explore potential partnerships through targeted business-to-business and business-to-finance meetings.

After the event, the process will continue with a 180-day follow-up period to track promising relationships and their progression towards financing, transactions and commercial partnerships.

For financial institutions, the process also provides an opportunity to better understand the businesses seeking finance and the conditions they require to expand.

“We recognize that many businesses, especially those who are operating within the Agric sector, still face barriers when it comes to accessing required capital to grow their businesses. We want to see how we can bridge that gap and that is why this deal room today is very important to us”, noted Mr Osigbodi Obajulu, Technical Lead, Propcom+.

For Propcom+, the Deal Room is also an opportunity to learn from the market. Discussions with businesses and financiers provided insights into the types of finance agricultural enterprises need the challenges they face in accessing capital and the factors that influence investment decisions.

These lessons will contribute to broader programme learning on how market actors can strengthen access to finance and create more opportunities for private-sector investment in agriculture.

The relationships established through the Deal Room will be followed to understand which discussions develop into financing, commercial partnerships and other tangible business opportunities.
