Propcom+ Participates At The Exclusive 62nd NVMA Annual National Conference in Uyo

At the ongoing 62nd Annual National Conference of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Propcom+ joined veterinary professionals and livestock-sector stakeholders to advance conversations on the future of veterinary practice and the need to expand access to animal health services across Nigeria.

Under the theme “Veterinary Practice in the 21st Century,” Propcom+ Country Director, Dr Adiya Ode, delivered a goodwill message emphasising the importance of collaboration and innovation in building a more productive and resilient livestock sector. Discussions at the conference also explored the evolving role of veterinarians in strengthening animal health systems and rethinking how services reach livestock producers at the last mile.

A key highlight was Propcom+’s presentation on its partnership with NVMA to support 20 selected private veterinary practitioners in the adoption and scaling of the Community Animal Health Worker/Veterinary Para-Professional (CAHW/VPP) model.

The model offers a pathway to strengthen last-mile delivery by connecting community-level animal health service providers with veterinary professionals, helping to bridge gaps in access to essential animal health services, particularly in underserved livestock-producing communities. Through appropriate supervision, referral systems, and professional oversight, the approach can support more accessible and responsive animal healthcare while creating opportunities for sustainable, market-driven service delivery.

Propcom+ also hosted an exhibition booth, engaging conference participants and showcasing the CAHW/VPP model and its broader work to improve last-mile access to animal health services. The engagement provided an opportunity to share experiences, build awareness, and strengthen relationships with stakeholders committed to transforming veterinary service delivery in Nigeria.

For Propcom+, last-mile delivery is more than taking services closer to livestock farmers. It is about building sustainable systems that connect veterinary expertise, community-level providers, and private-sector innovation to ensure that animal health services are accessible where they are needed most.

Through its partnership with NVMA and other livestock-sector stakeholders, Propcom+ continues to support innovative approaches that can strengthen animal health delivery, improve livestock productivity, and contribute to more inclusive and resilient agricultural market systems in Nigeria.
