Nigeria’s environment is under unprecedented pressure from climate change, unsustainable land use, and industrial activities. Recognising the urgent need for sustainable practices, Propcom+ convened a two-day Environmental Management Training for its partners on 19–20 August 2025.

The facilitator worked closely with each participant to uncover their environmental risks and carbon footprints. This provided an opportunity for deep dive sessions which translated to detailed findings of each participants environmental activities.
The training equipped partners with knowledge and tools to manage environmental risks, reduce emissions, and comply with Nigeria’s environmental laws. Sessions covered climate impact awareness, environmental health and safety, environmental and social compliance assessment (ESCA), and strategies for reducing carbon footprints.
Through interactive group work, participants shared their environmental risks and developed Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) tailored to their operations. They also presented environmental improvement plans and monitoring frameworks to ensure long-term accountability in their delivery.
At the workshop’s conclusion, partners collectively pledged to adopt practical measures to safeguard Nigeria’s environmental ecosystems while promoting sustainable agribusiness growth.
“This training is not just about compliance; it is about responsibility. We must all take deliberate steps to preserve what is left of our environment for future generations,” remarked one participant.
Propcom+ remains committed to fostering environmentally responsible practices across all its interventions. By strengthening the capacity of partners, the programme ensures that agribusiness growth is accompanied by sustainability, climate resilience, and improved livelihoods.
