Propcom+ to Showcase Evidence and Learning at the 2026 DCED Annual Meeting and Global Seminar

Propcom+ will participate in the 2026 Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) Annual Meeting and Global Seminar, joining leading practitioners, researchers, donors, and private sector development experts from around the world to exchange evidence, lessons, and innovations in market systems development.

The seminar – ‘PSD at a Crossroads: Navigating a Shared Way Forward’ which is scheduled to hold between Tuesday 16 – Friday 19 June, in Nairobi provides a global platform for advancing discussions on resilience, sustainability, inclusion, and the role of market systems in addressing complex development challenges. As part of the event, Propcom+’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Director, Mr Gerald Umeze will contribute to three high-profile sessions focused on some of the most pressing issues facing development practitioners today.

The first panel session, “Resilience in Fragile Economies: Busting Myths About Private Sector Development in Crises,” will explore how market systems approaches can support recovery, adaptation, and economic resilience in fragile and crisis-affected contexts. Drawing on practical experiences from Nigeria, the session will challenge common assumptions about private sector engagement in challenging operating environments.

The second panel session, “Are Our Green Claims Standing Up? Moving the Needle on Green Measurement and Evidence,” will focus on the growing importance of robust measurement frameworks and evidence generation in climate and environmental programming. The discussion will examine how development programmes can strengthen the credibility of climate-related claims and improve accountability for environmental outcomes.

In addition to the panel discussions, Mr Umeze will present a poster titled “Commercial Evidence from Women-Inclusive Delivery Models in Northern Nigeria.” The presentation highlights evidence from market-led approaches that have expanded opportunities for women within agricultural value chains, demonstrating how inclusive business models can improve both commercial performance and development outcomes.

Propcom+’s participation reflects the programme’s commitment to generating and sharing practical evidence that informs policy, strengthens market systems, and improves resilience among smallholder farmers and rural enterprises. Through its work across climate-smart agriculture, livestock health, seed systems, sustainable commodities, and agricultural finance, Propcom+ continues to contribute valuable insights to global conversations on inclusive and sustainable development.

As the global development community gathers to discuss the future of market systems development, Propcom+ looks forward to sharing lessons from Nigeria and learning from peers working across diverse contexts worldwide.
